The global event for water professionals covering the entire water cycle
The IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition brings together stakeholders and key contacts within the conventional water sector and beyond. It brings together core water sector groups, such as those focused on urban water and urban water services, as well as participants from industry and agriculture, architects and urban planners, soil and groundwater experts and hydrologists, social scientists, the ICT sector, the financial sector, and others. With a strong representation and contribution from Canada and North America, the IWA Congress & Exhibition is a vital opportunity to learn about the North-Atlantic water challenges and solutions, including through technical site visits.
The IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2024 follows the resounding success of the 2022 World Water Congress & Exhibition edition held in Copenhagen, Denmark. Clean and abundant freshwater is fundamental to human health, the environment and the economy. Canada is a water-rich country, with an estimated 7% of the world’s renewable freshwater supply. However, about 60% of the supply flows northward, while most of the population is located in southern regions. Changes in temperature, rainfall and snowfall can cause water quantities in rivers, lakes and reservoirs to rise and fall throughout the year, resulting in flooding or water shortages.
DESTINATION
The next edition of the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition will take place in the dynamic metropolis of Toronto, the capital of the province of Ontario, Canada, on 11-15 August 2024. The venue will be the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, in downtown Toronto, right below the CN Tower and just a walk from Union Station and the Union Pearson Express airport rail link.
Olivia Chow, Mayor of Toronto, is delighted to invite you to visit and explore Toronto. The Congress will be an excellent occasion to explore the beautiful Toronto area, with your family and friends too!

Join the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2024 in Toronto with NewIBNET
We are delighted to collaborate with NewIBNET in extending an exclusive invitation to water utilities worldwide to participate in the upcoming IWA World Water Congress and Exhibition, under the 2024 Data Pioneers in Water Utilities – Learning at Toronto Initiative.
As a global platform dedicated to advancing benchmarking and learning across water utilities to enhance management practices and performance, NewIBNET, supported by the World Bank, is sponsoring 5 of its members to attend this prestigious event. To be eligible for selection, utilities are encouraged to newly enter or update their data for 2023 on the NewIBNET platform by June 7, 2024. Additionally, utilities not currently part of the NewIBNET partnership can still participate by promptly joining and providing their self-assessment data by the same deadline.
